It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batters to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

Finally, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a frustrating experience because I feel like I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit take over and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was out Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
